Sounds like they want to test some new methods of recovering oil in a spill. Or we could just wait till the real thing happens.

Do you honestly believe that a 100L simulation is going to show this technology can handle a REAL problem?
How about just making sure BP doesn't play the same idiot game they played down south?
Wanna see if the stuff works? Well hell, there's a big ol' patch of oil floating around the Gulf of Mexico. How bout testing it where there's already nothing to lose?

There are so many technologies out there, so many companies that are willing to help out. Yet, they are all still in their offices, waiting for an answer... Why not have them all fly over there and let them just do their thing?

It's been done before. I saw on the CBC how some years ago, 300 barrels of oil were spilled off the coast of Nova Scotia and then set on fire to see how effective a method for containing an oil it was.

Sure they do. And there is a big motherscratchin' oil spill in the Gulf they can test it on instead of making artificial spills in the Arctic.
Seriously. Can you not see that or are you just being antogonistic?

You think it's a great idea to wait until Aug-Sept to test this new product in the arctic when there is a pefect litmus test for it going on RIGHT NOW!?

Where's the logic?

That would be like someone inventing a new fire snuffing foam and then, instead of testing it out on a currently buring forest fire, decides to wait a few months to test its effectiveness by burning hay stacks.

My question is, why won't they test in the Gulf where this potential problem solver could actually be useful?

Better Idea

Don't drill in environmentally sensitive areas!!

Alternative fuel cell cars are out there, Toyota is developing a hydrogen fuel cell car.

Bottling companies such as Coke, Pepsi should go back to glass bottles that people return. All those plastic bottles are oil based products.

Cars just make up for a small percentage of the oil we use, everyday platics products also make up for alot of the oil we currently drill.

Your computer, telephone, cell phone... whatever, whatever....
