They are modified KLT-40 submarine reactors.

And no, Canada should absolutely not have fucked up this bad first.

All 'Tsunami proof' is implying is what happened at Fukushima - the generator used to power the safety systems there was swamped by the sea, and the plant had no power to shut down.

Well I feel better that it's at least marine reactors, same thing is already roaming the planet so what's another one up north?

They plan for up to a dozen of them, in various locations.

The North East passage, yes.

Whether Canada steps up with military stations etc. in the NW passage, we have yet to see. But Russia has been securing the North East passage since it began thawing. Nuclear stations to power their bases are just the first step.
