It is a common complaint in the city -- more and more law officers trying to meet the quota. :P

We've got a ton of speed traps in the city, a lot of construction zones which are not worked on or attended to, and a lot of odd sign changes several times a week. Everyone from driving instructors through grandmothers complain about it, because it is getting more clear as time goes on that the city wants to get money out of a fairly wealthy population rather than maintain the roads as they should be maintained.

No cop should yell over something as minor as a permit, though, and I didn't even know that was needed. Calgary's cops have a bit of a problem -- more than one or two friends of mine have had negative encounters with rookies on the force. My own interactions have been with the older folks and have all gone fine, but they really need to hammer down on some of the newer dudes.

Poor couple. :(

Funny how the kids didnt help the parents put their shit up on Kijiji. Im sorry I cant stand yard sales, they are a menace, especially in Nova Scotia. More than once I have had to swerve around some idiots who walk out into open traffic in order to buy some useless shit the owners dont want anymore. I can also understand the officers frustration, one weekend I saw a RCMP patrol car picking up garage sale signs. He had the trunk stuffed with the damn things and ended up tossing more into the back seats. All because some people wanted to sell their kids old half chewed toys from 1986. Not a reason to go all dirty harry but the old couple are putting the sympathy machine into overdrive on this one.

Which is probably why he was so upset, I doubt he was sitting around the office thinking "hmm Im bored I think Im going to go and pick up litter for four hours, then yell at the people who left it."

good on the officer to go back and apologize. True he maybe flew off the handle, but do we know what call he just came from? he may have just dealt with an emotionally charged situation and was still charged with adrenaline.

After reading the story again I'm left wondering why the old folks were crying?
