It's more than I'd expect had this taken place in Los Angeles or New York City.

Not only did they embarrass the RCMP they embarrassed Canada in an International incident. One of the few issues of a reasonable sentence for a disgusting act.

It's Millington's superiors that should be doing the hard time, the ones that told him to perjure himself and facilitated it.

And how can it be, with the same set of facts, that two get found guilty, two get off? The black guy and the Native get convicted, the two white guys skate.

I don't think it embarrassed Canada at all nor was it "international".

Killing a Polish citizen is an International issue. Here was the political fallout as reported on Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Dz ... r_incident

The incident has had significant coverage in Poland. The Polish consul general demanded answers about Dziekański’s death.[47] Canada's ambassador in Poland was invited to discuss the incident with officials in Warsaw, and one Polish official stated in the weeks after the incident that "we want the matter clarified and we want those guilty named and punished."[10]

On December 12, 2008, the Polish embassy in Ottawa issued a statement stating that the Crown's decision not to charge the RCMP officers was "most disappointing".[53]

In February 2009, it was reported that Canada had unilaterally suspended its mutual legal assistance treaty with Poland,[54] thus blocking Poland's own investigation of the Dziekanski Taser incident

Have to love the response by the government that I bolded. There's some great Foreign Relations management.

As I stated, an embarrassment to the RCMP and to Canada.

I don't agree. Hardly a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things.

Take it from me, the story went international from the beginning, and was regularly covered
over the years.

I got dragged into several conversations about 'what happened', with the conclusion being
Canada is just as fucked up as anywhere else.
