Hmmm, if the Americans don't allow Cuba to continue abusing human rights at will and give back Guantanamo Bay no deal. How quaint.

There's always a catch since nothing is free and it's just to bad that Obama didn't realise the truth that, you can't deal with a Communist dictator or his half wit brother before he embarrassed himself and his administration on the world stage

So, what we have here is another classic case of a failure to communicate.

On one hand we have what amounts to a hermit kingdom with no real assets, friends or potential other than Canadian tourists telling the worlds largest economy and alleged bastion of freedom that it should bow before them if it wants access to their untapped nothingness.

Then, on the other hand we have some left wing, community activist, wishing so hard that his legacy would be the opening up of Cuba to America that he fell hook line and sinker for the Castro Brothers utter self serving bullshit.

If the Obama Administration submits to these outrageous demands don't be surprised when you see Alaska returned to Russia, with compensation upon request.

Well, it is a ready-made gulag, after all. the Cubans will make good use of it, I'm sure, just as the Americans have.

So, now where are American Presidents going to go when they wish to throw the Constitution (that they are sworn to defend) in the trash? Perhaps, some place like Diego Garcia. Who knows? Maybe they've already built another Gulag, there.

The Cubans? I don't expect that their attitude towards human rights will improve while the Castro bros. live. They have no high cards in their hand to play, anyway and the U.S. can probably take their time leaving Gitmo.

Maybe some people here missed the part in the article where it said the administration's response was essentially, "Pfft. Whatever."

When it comes to Guantanamo, the base has to be closed by mutual assent. So every year the US treasury sends Cuba a check for the amount agreed way back when after the Spanish-American war and every year, Castro sends it back.

And the US does lots of business with Communists and dictators over the world so what's the big deal? Fifty years of an embargo hasn't made Cuba any less communist. Maybe more money will.

Responses that lame sound more like the reply a 12 year old girl who's just been bested would give than what the President of the worlds last superpower should be saying.

But then again, given his track record for lackluster and less than stellar responses to people pushing him around I suppose we shouldn't expect much more from the Obama administration.

Talk about not negotiating from a position of strength.

Those dirty commie cuban rat bastards wanting their territory back. The US, of course, if part of Florida had a Cuban mil base on it, would just meekly agree that a deal is a deal, nothing you can do, so it goes.
