If there's one thing about the politic press that I absolutely hate it's when a small mistake or gaffe during a speech gets made into a scandal. I have no idea why anything like this is even mentioned outside of page B10 of the local papers. It's not like someone died or something.

Why bother the public with issues like the economy, environment, health care and Senate reform?

Offer them a circus - a lengthy well reasoned debate as to who is Canada's head of state. One way to settle the matter of course would be to have a mud wresting contest between the two ladies vying for the title.

Any news story where "The Monarchist League of Canada" is asked for a comment is not to be taken seriously.

The problem started when they began appointing pushy women rather than servile ex-politicians. I predict the next GG will be a former cabinet minister whom we have all long since forgotten.
