No one likes this bill even MacKay knows the courts are going to challenge it. So why the fuck did they waste 7 months drafting this pile of shit?!

Ideology!

What a bunch of fucking clowns, they were told back in December that this shit would happen. Still they shat out this mess and tried to pass it off as a work in progress. It is bullshit like this that is going to make me vote liberal.

To punt it down the road after next election, meanwhile throw some red meat to their base. Plays well with the social puritans and lets the Cons play victim of activist judges. What are they now, 0 for 5? Thats from a court with the majority of judges appointed by Harper. Which is why his latest desperate play to appoint a favored judge to the Quebec courts so he can be eligible for Supreme court soon.

They have to have somethingh in place by Dec 16, so 'punting it down the road' isnt going to work.

They do. This bill. Then somebody charged under the bill will be let off because the judge deems it unconstitutional, then the Feds will appeal it all the way to the SCC, which will take it well past Nov 2015.

This has to be the most stupid narrow minded thinking I've seen from this government.

McKay said he plans to eliminate prostitution. Eliminate. Good luck with that. I think the Steveo has been conducting acid tests recently. "You're either on the bus or you're off the bus."

Which only proves McKay is an idiot.

The bill makes selling sex legal, but buying sex illegal. So, how can you sell sex without becoming an accomplice to the crime of buying it?

What a moron!

THis bill is probably why I won't be voting conservative. Not sure who I'll vote for, but it won't be them.

I don't actually care all that much what they put in place as far as prostitution laws, but the cynicism and political gamesmanship of this bill is just too much. How much time and money will be wasted on this bullshit?

This along with the artcle I read in the NP this morning about just how bad the military spending situation has gotten have just left a sour taste in my mouth.

Actually that's called the Nordic Model. Initially reports were that it was very successful there, but more recently turns out all they've done is drive it more underground where sex slavers and organized crime thrive. But the other diff is that in the Nordic countries, a big part of the model is helping women get out of prostitution, ie they actually spend money to help them make the transition. Turns out that still doesn't eliminate prostitution.

I think the CPC have passed their best before date. I won't vote NDP until they figure that we need business to have incomes in Canada. JT will have to prove that he's got some sort of actual plan how to run this country. So at this moment i would vote for a CPC minority. Keep them in check but show the opposition they have work to do if they want to govern. So, as usual, it's strategic voting for me.

Living in Alberta means it's pretty much always strategic voting for me :)

I live in Brent Rathgeber's riding, so mabe I'll vote for him. He's most likely to be able to put a scare in whichever puppet gets the Tory nomination.
