Not to worry, the Ontario economy is going to be in even worse shape than it is now. Well done. You know who to thank...

Mistake my ass! Mistakes aren't planned years in advance. The high prices were intentional to make it attractive to investors for the release of Hydro One shares.

Sounds like she's pulling a Merkel, knowing with an election looming that she's almost universally hated in the province. Words of contrition are small comfort to those who have to choose between food and heat in the winter.

Energy Poverty — A.G.’s Story

$1:
A.G. and her husband live in Bruce County. A.G. works part-time. Her husband works full-time. They used to have a house heated solely by electric baseboard, but after watching their hydro bills steadily skyrocket, they decided four years ago to install a gas furnace to cut back on their electricity costs. With the installation of the vent system, duct work and furnace, the total cost was close to $10,000.

An energy audit of their home at the time gave them an excellent rating. Windows, doors and insulation were all good.

They thought the savings in their electricity bill would pay for the furnace over time. Unfortunately, in less than 4 years their hydro bill has climbed back up to the point it was before they installed the furnace (and beyond). So the money they saved didn’t come close to paying for the switch. They now keep the thermostat at a steady 60 degrees (15 C) in the winter to save as much as they can.

They wrap themselves in comforters when watching tv or on the computer. Even the simple act of turning on a light has become worrisome. The only time they turn on a room light after dark is when they use the bathroom.

“Air conditioning is completely out of the question in the summer, no matter how hot and humid it is.” This past summer, they didn’t dare turn on the a/c even though there were several nights they couldn’t sleep. They found that it affected their performance at work.

“We’ve already cut way back on our food bill and heat has become a luxury that we can barely afford, even with the change to gas heating. I can’t imagine what we’d do if our children were still living at home. What a terrible situation for young families to be in.”

Tell us your story of living in energy poverty brought to you by the Liberal Party of Ontario by contacting us on our FB page. We won’t use your full name but the area you live in will be posted to give people an idea of how far reaching this epidemic is.

With the new furnace and air conditioner my equal billing was almost perfect. I owed 21 and change. My new bill is up 12 a month electricity and 12 a month for water so far gas hasn't gone up but that is coming. My spread sheet now has a comment line Thank you K W. Hubby says with all the unions she has bought that she will get back in regardless of what they do. He had better be fucken wrong, province can't take too much more of this.

If my wife is correct, the Wynned Bag's approval rating is about where Mulroney's was just before the implosion of the Federal PCs. We can only hope the same fate awaits the Wynned Bag and the Ontario Liberals.
It's mind-boggling to think what the Ontario Liberals have become, a mere three election cycles after the Peterson years.

At this stage in the nightmare down there is there any of the innumerable problems and "mistakes" that aren't directly attributable to Wynne and her idiotic predecessor? From Caledonia through to today Ontario seems to be a place where the provincial government went out of it's way on purpose to create as much long-term damage for both the current and future generations to have as a burden.

And, just as importantly, what the hell went wrong with the Ontario Tories that those Liberal morons can still win a government as opposed to being knocked down to the two seats in the legislature that they deserve? :?

That's the million dollar question. After McNuggets won his first election, every election after that was the Tories' to lose, and they sure didn't disappoint. One of the PC leaders wanted to fund ALL religious schools. That didn't sit well with Ontarians. I'm still not thrilled that the Catholic school system gets to suck on the public teat.
Tim Hudak's outrageous 1 million new jobs claim didn't do him any favours. There's an art to bullshitting and Hudak was completely unfamiliar with that art. The Wynned Bag stuck to a no more believable but much less insulting to the intelligence, 400,000 jobs.
And so on and so on.

There's small choice in rotten apples. Just demonstrates how badly Mike Harris fucked this province that his party remains unelectable two decades later.

People love to rail against the Ontario Liberals about hydro, but their memories are short. They were (or their parents were) railing against the Conservatives about hydro when they were the government. Can they not grasp that having a modern power grid is expensive business? If you don't like the price of it, don't buy it, but stop bitching about it. Things aren't going to change no matter who's sitting at Queen's Park because it's matter of mathematics, not governance. Wynne may say it's her fault but it isn't. It isn't anyone's fault. It just is what it is.

Yeah it is what it is. It's not just hydro though that bugs me about her government. It's hard to believe that they didn't know that with growth comes a need for more power or that everything has to be replaced or upgraded regularly. It's irresponsible to not have a plan for at least repair and replacement. This crap about everything needing upgrades is just stupid and short sightedness. And yeah they all seem to do it.

Oh and let's not forget the latest about the Kingston wind farm. Deleted emails all over again but this time it will cost us more and no matter what happens we will all be paying for it for years to come.
