First off criminals deserve everything they get, up to and including grievous bodily harm so, if they want sympathy for what happens to them, they should pick up a dictionary. And, secondly following orders that are designed to protect the public from these assholes shouldn't be a punishable offence no matter what the outcome of the criminals poor choices leads to.

Kind of miss the good old days when Britain would simply press-gang all the street scum into the Navy and send them off on a three-year scurvy-included voyage or into battle against Napoleon in order to reduce their numbers. Beats having a government department dedicated to making sure they never face any punishment no matter what they do. Ah, well, Britain we hardly knew ye, but at least there'll be some great dash-cam footage coming out of this until the squishes and snowflakes shut the program down.
