For some perspective, it took Apollo craft about 2 days to reach the moon. It took New Horizons 6 hours. Voyager took 3 years to reach Jupiter, it took New Horizons 13 months. And at Jupiter it picked up a 4 km/s speed boost. And with all that . . .it still took almost 8 years to get from Jupiter to Pluto!

Yea, I wonder where our priorities are sometimes. When Armstrong came back from the moon, cities across the world had big tickertape parades for him.

When NASA took detailed maps of one of the largest objects in the asteroid belt, Vesta, no one even noticed. When the ESA basically shot a golf ball from L.A. to Mumbai and got a hole in one 10 years later, one of the Scientists' shirt seemed to be bigger news. Professor Higgs' particle was found, revealing great insights into our Universe, and does the man even get a parade? And putting a probe on Titan! Does anyone remember that? :?:

I can't wait to see what Pluto really looks like. It'll be neat after it passes Pluto too, as there are 3 Kupier Belt objects in it's path that can be surveyed.

Part of what's happened is that the vermin on the anti-Western left have so deconstructed our heroes that any time something heroic is accomplished there's instantly one of those f***ers to come along and question the accomplishment, play it down, or ignore it altogether in favor of lionizing some urban thug human interest story.

I am both thrilled and saddened by this. Thrilled that we, as humans, have achieved this yet saddened that we as humans ignore this and other truly great accomplishments.

We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
We're gonna do what they say can't be done. [B-o]
