Wow I never saw that coming. But to be honest I think the Hab's got the better of the deal. Subban as good as he can be as a player is a loose canon at times who can also be disruptive.

I wonder what one Mr. Price thinks about this.

I take it you're a big Subban fan. But for the record Weber plays better defense and like Subban can QB the powerplay so, other than age this trade doesn't really change much for either team. Nashville gets more scoring at the cost of defence and Montreal gets more defence at the cost of offence.

Given Montreal's trouble scoring goals this trade may come back to bite them in the ass because Weber isn't as big a threat offensively as Subban but it makes a person wonder if Montreal going this way is a strong indicator that they've decided that a defensive team gives them a better chance to win the Cup than an offensive one.

I get a laugh out of some believing this was such a horrible trade. Subban can be a dynamic player, unfortunately, he far too often tries to be the centre of the show. Many of his teammates didn't get along with him, he took bad penalties, couldn't control his emotions and was a defensive liability.

P.K will be motivated...for a year. He will have a good year next year, he might even change his ways for a few months, ultimately his deficiencies will be exposed. There is a reason Weber was the key D-man in the Olympics while PK didn't see a minute of ice time.

PK seems like a good guy for the community and really loved the city he played with, he was a good guy to fans so he was naturally a favourite. However, you have to reach for the Cup, I think Weber gives the Habs a better shot. If you cannot score goals as Montreal hasn't been able to do you had better have an impenetrable defense.

Here's a quick and dirty comparison of players, though it doesn't include the intangibles:

Outside of his age, this is far from a lopsided trade no matter how you look at it. Now Hall for Larsson however:

Canadian teams can't seem to keep their stars, and Leafs cant seem to even lure the big name homegrown players who are free agents :(

Same Points last year and 14 more goals. Shea will do a lot of damage on the PP
