andyt andyt:
I used to take the Skytrain home as football or hockey games emptied. What a difference. The football fans were a jovial lot, they had kids with them, and mostly seemed to be going to the burbs. The hockey fans were a bunch of obnoxious drunks going more to Vancouver and Burnaby. I would always hope the Canucks lost in 4 straight to get it over with.
How long ago was that? In the last 10 years I've ridden the Skytrain back to my brother inlaw's place a few times after Rider night games and more often than not ended up in a confrontation with drunken Lions fans because I was sporting Green and White.
Day games might be okay but don't go to a Lions game on a Friday or Saturday night and expect to survive the Skytrain ride back to the burbs without some trouble especially if you're from an opposing team because, the environment definitely isn't family friendly.
Alot of people by nature are born assholes so, it isn't just Canucks fans who can be a bunch of douches because, the Lions fans can be just as bad and for the record this doesn't just happen in Vancouver it happens in every city with a professional sports team whether people want to admit it or not.
Just don't get me started about the uberfans actions in the stands. You know the ones who think they can show their ultimate support for their team by insulting, assaulting and ultimately fighting with anybody cheering for another team.
