Alot of government administrators will be unhappy. It would be interesting to see the costs when you consider the costs of labour, pension, rent/land ownership and other overhead costs, versus just giving people a guaranteed income. As a free market supporter this goes against the premises I believe in, but it raises some very interest issues in regards to costs. Everyone seems to accept some basic benefits, such as childhood benefits and OAS without considering the costs to administer these programs.
It would force the vast majority of these administrators to find work in the private market. It would also lead to costs savings elsewhere. Though the dangers of inflation and the like would be difficult to avoid.
