This Bill has Political Opportunism written all over it. Pass HealthCare Reform and all these People will be Covered. People upset at the fate of this Bill are being played for Chumps.

Both of New York's Senators are Democrats, as 27 out of the 29 Representatives are Democrats too. Unless you think this is political opportunism by his own party, I don't see it.

Shame on the Obama administration. More shame that it has taken a third administration to address and fail at this issue. What happened to the previous two?

Anyway, yeah I'm not sure if there was any legislation before this. At least...I can't tell if they were passed or not. There was something going on in 2006, which would have lasted five years (which would mean it'd end next year) so therefore a new bill would need to be passed to provide medicare care.

There's been three administrations since 9/11 - two for Bush and one for Obama. There a lot of anger over the Obama administration's failure to approve this, and rightly so, but I thought I'd opt for the not quite so partisan approach of asking why no administration has done this.

Ahh, I see what you're saying. However most people consider one sitting president an administration, not his terms. That being said, there have been past legislation brought forth, including one brought forth by Senator Clinton in 2006, and another in 2004. The problem is, I can't tell if they passed or not, due to the many dead links. If the information about the Hilary Clinton thing was true (meaning it was passed in 2006) that would mean the money funding would dry up. So...I'm not sure if there were successful legislation in the past

Right on Gunnair. Right after 9/11, the EPA jumped on the tv and said, ' yeah yeah, the area is fine to work in, so let's go ' Obviously, they were very wrong, and it is more than a bit shameful that nine years later these people are getting screwed. Something to think about if you are ever if their position.

I can't say I've heard of anything either, but like you said, anything done was alikely a short term program lacking the long term approach and adequate funding to cover what may likely be spiralling and unprecedented health costs.

Something to think about if you are ever if their position. Reminds me in that scene in Sicko where the 9/11 firefighter is taken to Cuba for health care. Sure Moore is making political hay with it, but the fact that he is able to is absolutely shameful to Republicans and Democrates alike.
