Yea, Sarkozy is such a wanker. He wanted it to be a "Franco-American" celebration.

He wanted to forget about those Canadian, British and Polish guys who gave their lives to free France from the Nazis.

Gold, Juno and Sword. Those beaches and the sacrifices our young men made should be remembered, even if little French guys don't like it.

They fail to remember that the French were the enemy once too. When Allied troops landed in Syria, it was Vichy French troops they battled, not Germans. De Gaulle was kept out of the loop about D-Day, for as long as possible, because the Allies didn't trust him.

Morocco too, Vichy French battled the Americans who landed there, even used one of their half completed battleships in dock to harass US shipping.

World War II France is a disgrace.

The French are just wankers. Any historical studies of post-war Europe, in particular of the French and their bad attitude at being liberated will fill in the gaps for those thinking this is just a 'one-off'.
The French resent the US/UK/Canada for beating the Nazi's. Go figure.

Agreed. The Vichy thing has been conveniently forgotten.
