Since when does an agent have any right to comment on someones personal opinion, get real, if it wasn't Avery it wouldn't even be news

The reverse could be said about Avery. Why should we care about his personal opinion?

I don't. Don't care about the troglodyte opinion of his agent either. But good for Avery for speaking out, I would guess it took guts in an organization like the NHL. I would guess there's still a wee bit of homophobia to be found there.

Haters gonna hate

I don't think that agent's opinion necessarily makes him a hater. He's entitled to it and entitled to express it.

My solution is to take the state out of the marriage business. If a couple want to form a contract that is enforceable by the state, they should get a civil union from the state, whether they are straight or gay.

If a couple want to be "married" they should go to the appropriate religious person to say hey nonny nonny over them. But that "marriage" would not be enforceable by the state, if they don't also get a civil union, it's as if they are living common law as far as the state is concerned. Since the appropriate religious person would have the right to refuse to marry anybody s/he didn't want to, that religious person would have no power under the state to perform a civil union.

He has the right to say it, everybody else has to right to care, or not.

$1:
"Very sad to read Sean Avery's misguided support of same-gender 'marriage.' Legal or not, it will always be wrong," said a tweet from Todd Reynolds, vice-president of Uptown Sports Management, whose hockey clientele includes Chris Neil, Cody McCormick and Mike Fisher.

Sounds like a hater to me. Same-sex marriage affects him in no way.

Naw. Saying that same sex marriage is wrong is just a personal opinion, you don't have to hate gays to hold it. How it affects him is that (I would guess) he holds religious beliefs, and if the state approves same sex marriage it's devaluing his religious ideas. It's sorta like saying someone who thinks God belongs in the pledge of allegiance is a hater.

Yet, no one complains of devalued religious beliefs when a local government gives a business license to a Red Lobster, or one to a store that sells condoms.

I don't think this leaves much doubt that Avery takes it in the pooper.

Same sex marriage is opposed both in Leviticus of the Jewish Torah and by Catholics. The Torah also opposes the eating of shellfish and Catholics oppose birth control. Yet state sanctioning of lobster and condom sales through business licenses don't receive the opposition that same-sex marriage does.

Can he play hockey? That's all I care about. Now if he was running to lead my church I might take issue, otherwise I don't care what he thinks.

Got it. But maybe there are people who are against Red Lobster, and the Catholics hae certainly made clear they are against condoms. That doesn't make them haters.

And sure, homosexuality is a more hot button issue. You could call me a hater, because while I fully support full rights for gays, I don't really want to hear about it because two guys having sex grosses me out. And two women are only interesting if they're cute and willing to have me join them, neither of which applies to most lesbians. I don't consider myself a hater tho, just not a fan either.
