$1:
Jane Thornthwaite, the B.C. Liberal MLA for North Vancouver-Seymour, introduced a private member's bill in 2012 that would have regulated breeding facility conditions, but it was never passed.

Now, she is trying again and this time she says she has the support of Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick, as well as a group of veterinarians and reputable breeders

I hope this gets passed.

There's no such thing as a "puppy mill lobby" that keeps these bills from getting passed. The Hunting, Farming and Animal Research lobbies usually are the interveners who oppose animal cruelty bills because they think it will eventually expand to include them.

Nope. In BC legitimate breeders are opposing this legislation because they don't want to be regulated and don't want to pay fees. They claim they are not making much money. Makes me a bit suspicious.

This isn't an animal cruelty bill, per se. It would regulate dog and cat breeders and allow SPCA inspectors to enter premises to inspect them without a warrant. Hunters certainly have nothing to fear from a law like that. Farmers and Researchers maybe do, but that's all to the good.

Ok add " legitimate breeders" to my list but to my experience the farmers and researchers still try to intervene in animal abuar legislation.
