Perhaps. Maybe your riding will let me help choose the next MP too.

The largest issue I see with the whole thing is tax revenue, I dont see how they could explain that one away. I do support the mandate that police cannot ask if they are legal citizens though.

You don't see the "letting non-citizens vote" thing as a problem?

Not terribly, if they have their city issued ID's and they can prove they are a resident. As far as I can tell they are only letting them vote on municipal elections and issues right?

Uhh, no they can't. At least not in any municipality I've ever heard of. If you want to make decisions, you need to join up for good.

$1:
DeStefano says that noncitizens, including illegal immigrants, already work and pay taxes in the city and that allowing them to vote in municipal elections would encourage them to participate more in the community. His office says that two dozen other states have seen similar legislation and that many cities and towns allow for voting in local elections, but the secretary of the state said it would require an amendment to the state constitution for it to fly in Connecticut.

If they reside and pay taxes in the municipality I dont see a problem with them voting on municipal issues.

I don't know about the US but in Canada you've gotta be a citizen to vote at every level of government.

This guy is likely a Democrat just trying to get a rise out of the Repbulicans, but if he isn't careful it may blow up in his face. Especially if it's illegal like here.

Lots of talk about poor immigrants, immigrants are exploited, immigrants drive the economy and immigrants are persecuted. We have this sort of love affair with immigrants and it's a social problem, the love affair it, it colors the whole issue. Voting in municipal elections is a minor issue but, hey, let them wait until they are citizens.
