According to Fox, the navy is considering the possibility of charging the Lt. Cmdr. for taking his gun into a gun-free zone.

The Navy is now denying it, but with Weasel words.

http://www.chattanoogan.com/2015/8/2/30 ... arges.aspx

$1:
UPDATE: A spokesman for the U.S. Navy on Sunday denied reports that disciplinary charges will be filed against Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White for discharging an unauthorized weapon on federal property.

According to a post of Facebook and other social media sites, a statement reads, “Stories of Navy personnel being charges with an offense are not true. There is still a long way to go in reviewing the facts of this tragic incident, but at this time we can confirm no service member has been charged with an offense.

Same thing they told Fox, but Fox stressed they didn't deny he might be charged in the future. Here they just stress that he hasn't been charged yet.

I say charge him, find him not guilty, review the law, change the law. The military are trained in the safe and expert use of weapons. Then incidents such as this should de-escalate.

The rumour about charges came from those scumbags Allen West and Jim "Dim" Hoft. It's more phoney made-up shit from the Teabircher curtain jerkers on the right-wing rubber-chicken circuit.

I'm hearing from my friends who are still active that Lt. Cmdr. White reached out for legal assistance after the JAG notified him that he needed to retain counsel for a Special Court-Martial proceeding. He was not informed of specific charges or articles, just that he needed to retain counsel to answer eventual charges from violating DoD Directive 5210.56 which specifically prohibits the possession of personal firearms on post.

The DoD and the Navy are now denying that any charges were to be brought against Lt. Cmdr. White and if they stay true to form what they did was promise to drop these charges for now and in return he will resign his commission in three to six months and will cite PTSD and receive a partial pension.

If he reneges on the deal he'll face far more serious charges.

Because that's how this kind of shit works in the military. It's all politics.
