The South Korean warship was sunk by an MK48 torpedo, used by a few NATO countries.

The original explosion, or implosion even creates a large air pocket under the ship and the weight of the ship causes the middle section to drop down (breaking the back). Then a secondary explosion finishes it off.. If you look at the pictures of the SK warship there is no hole around the area of the break.

South Koreas original version of the event was an air bubble under the ship, then the story changed...

I'm not a big fan at all of NK, but I don't believe they are responsible for the sinking of the warship.

How do you know it was a Mk 48?

South Korean warship was not sunk by 1970s mine

$1:
Before the ship was raised last week, there had been speculation that a stray mine left over from more than 100 mines laid by South Korea along its the Yellow Sea border in the 1970s could have been to blame. This now appears to have been ruled out.

Why Does South Korea Think That North Korea Sank Their Ship?

$1:
If the remaining metal shards around the hole bend inward, as they did on the South Korean ship, then investigators can rule out internal malfunctions as the cause and conclude that external forces were at work. Next, the South Korean investigators would have looked at the size of the hole, Pike said. A larger, shallower, hole would indicate a blast from a sea mine, while a smaller, deeper, hole would indicate a torpedo.

Scientists Say Direct Heavy Torpedo Sank Cheonan

$1:
A team of scientists believes that the Navy corvette Cheonan sank after being hit by a heavy 206 kg torpedo that ran at a speed of 65 km/h.

"As a result, we presume that the torpedo ran at the Cheonan at the speed of 65.7 km/h and exploded underwater 2.3 m from the ship with power equivalent to 206 kg of TNT."

He said heavy torpedoes with a payload capacity of 200 kg are usually 7 to 8 m long. The explosive is stored not in the head but in the rear part 1 to 6 m away from the head. Thus even if the head hits the hull, the explosion normally occurs a few meters away from the ship.

Torpedo Gunpowder Found in Cheonan Wreckage

$1:
"Explosive traces found in the Cheonan's chimney and the seabed on which the stern's broken-off side had been lying were all confirmed as those of the high explosive RDX, which is more powerful than TNT," the official told the Yonhap news agency. "This explosive is used in torpedoes, not sea mines." The tiny amount of gunpowder ingredient was detected in the Cheonan's funnel.

Probe concludes torpedo sank South Korea ship

$1:
The metallic debris and chemical residue appear to be consistent with a type of torpedo made in Germany, indicating the North may have been trying to disguise its involvement by avoiding arms made by allies China and Russia, Yonhap quoted the official as saying.

Serial Number of Torpedo Traced to N.Korea

$1:
Investigators apparently discovered a propeller from the torpedo that likely sank the ship in relatively good condition in waters where it sank and the serial number handwritten on it is North Korean.

$1:
Monitoring of seismic activity in the region, damage to the ship and the "fractures and lacerations" sustained by the dead crew were all consistent with "damage resulting from a shockwave and bubble effect" caused by an explosion directly beneath the vessel, it said.

The report said the torpedo parts found "perfectly match" a torpedo type that the North manufactures.

Does that mean if the were to have a cruise missle atack new neuton war heads radiate their top leadership and install a civilized government that we can claim that the DPRK faked the cruise missle attack?
