Benn Benn:
I have a solution, make a law forbidding teaching of ANY religion in school. Have a history or geopraphy unit devoted to the worlds main religions so kids know the basics of them and teach it in one grade then drop the issue. Telling them to pick two and decide the time for each will just mean they will teach one 90% and the other negativly biased at 10%. Only solution is none at all. Leave religion to the chruch and home.
I dont say this lightly as my kids are in private Christian School. I would support it still. There are plenty of ways my school can educate the kids to be positivie citizens based on the spirit of goodness and understanding in the bible without going into religious dogma. If someone wants that, the parents can take them to whatever their religion has for a chruch.
That was what my (secular, public) Elementary school did.
Although in grade 8, we had more of Christianity (like Canada, Dutch society is based on Christianity), ALL main religions were touched, including Atheism (although that's not a religion

). No one converted to anything and no one was expected to convert to anything. What was expected was that we understood the differences and the similarities.
