Good. She needed to be taken away from those kids permanently, and this should do it.

I can understand barring her from having kids (personally I'd enforce having her tubes snipped as I would in many cases of child abuse) but putting her in jail for life?

People who kill their children who get less punishment. I concur with some jail time for something this horrid but 99 years may be a bit excessive.

I'm sure the amount of time will be reduced on appeal but the bottom line remains that she'll never see her kids again until they're old enough to defend themselves against her. And, depending on what happens in prison between her and the male guards, she'll never have any more kids either. From both angles justice is served.

Wow. Although it is heinous what she did, it does imho not warrant 99 years. Not even 45 the prosecution wanted. It sure is aggravated assault, child abuse and she sure looks like an unfit mother, but 99 years???

The court may have seen fit to create a deterrence. They do that from time to time.

"It's good to shoot an Admiral occasionally - to encourage the others"

You know I've seen it a few times here but I'm calling it out this time.

It's not "justice" when we joke about inmates raping somebody or harming them in some way while they are in jail.

It's a problem with our prison system and it's not right that anyone get raped or beaten while in jail. I'm not saying it's going to stop happening and that it's fully preventable but at the very least can we stop celebrating prison rape even if it's someone we really don't like?

I'm sick of it and rape isn't justified in any circumstance.

Martin explains that Britain finds it necessary to shoot an admiral from time to time, "pour l'encouragement des autres"......from the novel Candide, ou l'Optimisme, a French satire first published in 1759 by Voltaire.

Balance. What do people in assault cases get?
I don't know, 10-25 years, and no chance of ever getting custody of any child, PLUS counseling.

The fact the judge ordered 54 years MORE than prosecutors asked for, shows me that there is a lot of emotion involved from the part of the judge. And there is no room for emotion in law.

I disagree with the 'sick' part and would instead offer up the word 'evil' as more appropriate.

Using a term like evil puts the blame squarely on her shoulders, as it should be. Calling her 'sick' is part of the cult of victimization that is so prevalent today...she wasn't fully responsible for her actions, she's afflicted with some sort of malady that causes these bizarre actions. She should be pitied for the affliction that makes her do this.
