Good - I hope she gets a real sentence, instead of being let off like so many women.

But first/second degree convictions don't carry a maximum sentence of life, but a mandatory sentence of life.

There is a chance she will be found not guilty, because of her state of mind... From what I read, it is a typical case of infanticide, and that is just not the same... :?

I am glad I am not the judge in this case...

Doing it twice, a year apart is not infanticide. If the first incident didn't wake you up, then there's something seriously wrong with her. Whatever the jail term this woman should be forced to get a tubal ligation. She's had her chance and blew it.

What makes you think someone who kills her own offspring hours after it's born, and has hidden both pregnancies all the way is able to "wake up"?
It's obvious she was in denial, for whatever reason. Yes, there is something seriously wrong with her, and I would call it a mental illness. And unless they can prove it is NOT a mental illness and that she willingly and knowingly killed her children, without remource, she will walk.

Hormones are weird things, and pre- and post partum depressions/psychoses and whatmore are not uncommon.

And no, I am not saying that it should be condoned, but I wonder if this will be seen as coldblooded murder (and thus a life sentence).

Tie her tubes and I don't really care how much time she spends in prison.
