He WAS missing... He was going fishing overnight, not for a week. That HE didn't think he was missing, doesn't mean he wasn't.
Same goes for kids who run away. Parents report them missing, while the kids don't think they are...

I thinks that if he truly wanted to get away he would have booked time off work, the article says she didn't call until he failed to show up for work.

Normally I would appreciate his position. The wife said get out he did. There is a dispute her that they need to discuss; HOWEVER a search like this cost a lot of taxpayers money and wastes a lot of law enforcements time.
