As long as they dont go crazy with it Im sure the CF wont have an issue with them using the logo for whatever.

Geez, what a humungous waste of money. Wonder how much that set the taxpayer back. Screw the CF and send whoever made a stink about it to southern Helmand province.

Why does the military have a say in this? Do they have a trademark that's being infringed? If not, it's none of the military's goddamn business what the Jets choose for a logo.

Lemmy,

From article (bolded by me):

$1:
But the team was also consulting with National Defence. The Jets' contract with the department stipulates that Ottawa owns all rights to the Air Force roundel, which the team can adopt as part of its logo as long as it plays by certain rules.

Yeah, I read the article. I'm still not clear as to why it's any of Ottawa or the Air Force's concern what they use for a logo. If the Maple Leafs, for example, decided they wanted to add a blue circle around their logo, would they have to ask the AF first?

I think they would have to ask the CF. Same as you would have to ask the Legion for the poppy logo.

You have no idea how nutzoid these gov't guys get.
Years ago we produced a game for Commodore64s, in tiny letters it said 100& Made In British Columbia Canada, and s tiny BC Flag. We got a letter to remove the flag,it was copyrighted property of the Gov't of BC or we'd be sued.
We wrote back that as taxpayers living in BC, we partly owned the gov't therefore we owned the copyright and were free to use our own flag.
They didn't respond.

Blue circles are owned by the government. If you want to ue one, you'll have to conatct teh "Blue Circle" officde of the government copyright department. But don't hold your breath. They re currently embroiled in litigation with maple trees over their flag copyright infringement.

BRAH,

I think it only applies if you plan on profiting from the logo.
