Amen. What a great guy.

One of my favorite bits of pained wisdom from Mickey:

"I once lost a dollar at Santa Anita (a race track) and I spent three million dollars trying to win it back."

He was humble and he was a magnificent actor, too.

Nine decades. Quite something in this day and age of 15 minutes of fame.
RIP

$1:
Rooney won two special Academy Awards for his film achievements, and reigned from 1939 to 1942 as the No. 1 moneymaking star in movies...

Reminds me of the line from the Simpsons Radioactive Man episode, "Wow, a career spanning two decades!"

RIP Mr. Rooney

Mickey would be the last of the big stars of the golden age of the silver screen, wouldn't he be?

Towards the end there it was between Mickey and Shirley Temple, but he beat her by a few months.

No, 50s stars like Kirk Douglas would not be in the running. They're youngsters. Mickey was the last of his kind.

Olivia DeHaviland is still alive. Classy lady, too! [B-o]

You're right Bart.

I would have sworn her and Joan Fontaine were both dead. Oh well, the sister feud goes on, I guess. But once they're gone, that's it, right?

Seems like I may have fallen for a hoax.

But I double-checked. Her sister died last year. So Olivia has to be the last all by herself.
