All I can say is WOW.

I guess the bunny hugging nimrods running Vancouver think everyone's forgotten about what the "gas tax" is for and now won't mind paying double to sit in gridlock for hours on end.

Federal Gas Tax Fund

Two billion[7] of the approximately five billion[8] dollars in revenue the federal government receives annually from the Federal Gas Tax is allocated to the Federal Gas Tax Fund. The Fund supports municipal infrastructure projects, which can include building and maintaining local municipal roads. According to Infrastructure Canada,

[e]very municipality in Canada receives a portion of the Fund. The funding allocation is determined at the provincial or territorial level based on population. Funding is provided up front, twice a year to provincial and territorial governments or to the municipal associations which deliver this funding within a province, as well as to Toronto. Projects are chosen locally and prioritized according to the infrastructure needs of each community. Municipalities can pool, bank and borrow against this funding, providing significant financial flexibility.[9]

Just another reason to stay as far away from that SJW paradise as possible especially when Mayor Moonbeam isn't seeking another term and is moving out of the city because even he can't afford to live there.

But his legacy will be to ensure maximum financial pain and suffering for everyone including people who don't live in the paradise he's created but have to travel to Vancouver for work on a daily basis.

It's because they're too damn stunned to simply add a $150 surcharge on license plates issued in the Lower Mainland.
Gotta find a complicated way that wastes 90% of the revenue collecting it and gouges people who derive no benefit whatsoever.
Gotta make sure the people in my parts with no skytrain, no bus, no rail, o taxi, 2 lane roads and no one to plow if it snows on weekends shells out.
