I guess all breeds can snap. Shepherds have certainly been known to turn on their owners or especially maul kids. But pitt bulls sure seem to do it with US serial killer like regularity. Obviously the owner plays a big part, but they were bred as fighting dogs, so I think the breed also has something to do with it. Plus that awful bite strength makes them more lethal.

Uh oh, time for some doggie control. Maybe the government can set up some kind of National Canine Registry where you have to register your dog(s). Dog owners will also need to have special permits to take their dog(s) out for walkies or a run in the park.

Better doggie control is a no brainer. Probably have people have to show competence to own a dog, take a course first. They say obedience training is more about teaching the owner anyway - do that before you can own a dog.

^^ That. I have so many dog park stories that begin . . .so this guy brings his unneutered Mastiff to the park . . .

And they have no idea why their dog gets in fights!

The answer to the problem is to require carry permits.

$1:
Dog attack not the cause of Hamilton man's death: police
Results from an autopsy show that the Hamilton, Ont. man who collapsed during a late-night walk did not die as a result of a dog attack.

In a statement on Thursday, police said two men were walking a large dog along Burton Street in Hamilton late Wednesday night when the dog began to attack one of the men, who later collapsed.

Officers said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been publicly identified, but is believed to be in his 30s.

Hours after the incident, officers said the forensic pathologist examined the body and determined the dog attack was not the cause of the man's death. They have yet to reveal the cause.

Want to bet it was a heart attack or similar cause. Thus people will say the dog attack cause the man to have a ------. Thus blame the dog still.

That's what I was thinking too. A heart attack or when he landed on the ground he banged his head on the pavement in a bad way.
