Sorry for posting a blog link.. It seems to be the best description online so far.

Michael Geist has an article about this settlement too.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA and these fuckers think downloaders are the problem?? The record(ing) industry is the problem. They can't even abide by their own rules they set for everyone else. And what makes them even BIGGER scumbags is, THEY PROFITED FROM IT!!

LOOOOOSSSSEEERRRRSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

Proof that copyright infringement has NOTHING to do with protecting the artists and everything to do with protecting the interests of an industry that's about 2 rungs up the ladder from the oil industry in disgusting, illegal and shady practices.
Funny how the courts didn't levy the same fines the recording companies demand downloaders pay.

Seems to me someone from the recording industry should be personally fined and sentenced to prison time for these offences considering that's what they do to everyone else.

So let me get this straight--the record companies pirated this guy's music, put it up for sale and then stopped him--the creator of the music--from selling it online himself? That just boggles the mind.

What makes the timing of this so sweet is Warner Entertainment sending out "warning letters" for ISPs to pass on to their customers about pirating

Ok think for a second here Zip. It's the recording industry pulling this shit off. Is your mind really boggled by it?

No surprise here, double standards and the whole do as I say not as I do mentality, record companies have been screwing artists for decades and will continue to do so where they can, this is why we see more and more independant releases and more and more big names creating their own lables

$1:
The Canadian Recording Industry Association CRIA, the Canadian sister organization of the RIAA, and the organization that represents the major labels claim that the payout is not an admission of guilt. They write, "The settlement is a compromise of disputed claims and is not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by the record labels."

8O

Not an admission of guilt! Unbeleivable!

These assholes aren't even paying full penalties. If any of us are caught accidentally violating copyright, it's $500 to $20,000 fine, PER WORK. They paid $150 per work.
