$1:
The riding had been held by New Democrat Judy Wasylycia-Leis until she stepped down last spring for an unsuccessful run for Winnipeg mayor.

Chief was the favourite in the riding, one of Canadas poorest and most-crime-ridden. It includes Winnipegs north end, where high-profile killings have made national headlines.

Anyone else notice that the Conservatives "tough on crime" policies don't appeal to those of us who are surrounded by the crime, only to the people on the outside looking in?

Don't those figures point to why there's such a high crime rate.

Well, at least the good burghers or Vaughn can sleep well knowing that in their riding natives will be treated with kid gloves and can run riot, while the evil white man who dares to protest about that will be severely dealt with. Basically a tough on white non-crime approach. And if a native assaults a white man and is on trial, their new MP will write a letter to the judge to plead for leniency, pointing out that the victim is really the one at fault here.

The effectiveness of the law is based on the colour of the MP's signs?

The only thing I noticed is, the people in that riding are quite satisfied with the status quo in North Winnipeg.
