Read more in the news, apparently there is hope for it with a group doing another restoration in Ontario.

There is another one that had a similar history (sitting on a pedestal for half a century) in Toronto ... Downsview, that is being restored. It was also in rough condition and it may or may not fly again. There is a huge amount of metal they need to replace out. It may make sense to cannibalize ne to get the other one flying, again (if that's all that is needed).

Good news if they could get one plane using parts of the two. I was hoping it wasn't the one in Nanton, AB. I see it sometimes when I pass through town, and always hope to hear the engines fire up.

You think the gov't could pony up the dough. Even $1 million for a restoration would be chump change.

I was in the Warplane Heritage Museum three weekends ago for a sleep-over with a few hundred Cubs. Their Lanc ... the "flying" one, had all of her engines stripped off for re-build. They are going to fly her across the Atlantic this summer for the fly-by commemorating the 70th anniversary of D-Day (likely the last one with many actual veteran attending). That's a long fight and they are leaving nothing to chance.
