I am not familiar with the source but here is an article that claims that 31% of US military aircraft are Drones.

It'd be cheaper to just legalize. You can't maintain a cartel when you don't control supply.

It will never work. The gangs will just shift their operations into other areas and remain as powerful as before.

If it's done in Pakistan for the Taliban, it can be done in Mexico. All they need to do is to declare war on the cartels.

An argument can be made for this. A lot of good people on both sides of the border have been killed by these Cartel leaders.

Rather than having drones keep eye on that extremely dangerous Canadian border (They might be smuggling in those terroristic Easter Eggs) we could send them south to target the Mexican drug gangs, we could put these drones to good use for a change.

What other area is that? Of course they'll try to maintain their power, as did 1930s liquor gangs. Alas, most were not successful.

Well according to many on this board, they'll get into cigarette and alcohol smuggling in a big way. Other things too, tho I've never been clear what they are. But apparently legalizing their primary source of income will do nothing to reduce gang activity.

But you realize, in your call for legalization, you're talking about more than pot right? The Mexican Cartels are way beyond that.

This is steering away from the thread topic, and I, frankly, don't really care what Mexico does about their crime problem. Legalization, however, is the first step to curbing the cartels. Of course, it will take more than that, but the problem absolutely won't be solved until you take away their biggest source of cash. About $2B annually, representing as much as 60% of their income comes from marijuana smuggling. Any plan to shut down the Mexican drug cartel must begin with marijuana legalization. Ther is no other logical first step.
