I find it hard to believe there isn't a single one out of 144 Conservative MPs who wants to keep the registry. It's just as whipped on you side of the floor.

my 'guess' is there will be some 'sick' liberals that day, they won't go against party policy but they won't openly support it either. I think it is just a matter of 'how' many are sick that day.

I wish I could say that this development surprises me but it doesn't. Layton and Ignatieff care more for their own smug sense of self-righteousness than they do for the constituents their MPs represent. Before anyone paints me a Conservative sycophant, Harper's not much better in my books but he's the lesser of three evils and that's the nature of politics. It's rarely about the best candidate for the job, it's the least worst.

What I find laughable is that Layton criticizes Harper for splitting the nation on this issue. HA! The Liberals and (Progressive) Conservatives have done that since the early days of confederation with the exploitation of the West among other divisive issues. If Jacko wants to criticize Harper on anything, he better find something original for once.

let me see, I have never heard a CPC MP say he is against scrapping it, nor have I heard any CPC MP vote against it, then change his mind. The biggest shaft, is of these 6 MP's that are changing their tune, I believe all but one of them are rural MP's who initially voted to kill the registry because their constituents said they didn't want it.

So...now not only is this really a 'whipped' vote, but they are lying not only to the rest of Canada, but slapping the face of their own voting constituents.

I know what would REALLY drive u made Hurley, I could suggest to the PM that this be a vote of confidence. Do you think the liberals would even show up??

Given the Liberals record so far, not bloody likely. It's like they know that Iggy as no clue of what he's doing.

The billion dollar boondoogle may still die, as someone else already said, depending on how many "sick" MP's we have that day.

We do that for a lot of things. We keep smoking legal, but make smoking pot illegal. We have an unelected senate, a first past the post electoral system, a seemingly dysfunctional RCMP, an unsupportable healthcare system...
