How far they have fallen. The only country to get back pictures o fthe surface of Venus, and they've pooched 2 Mars probes in a row. Good to hear the mission may be saved.

Pischel said "no meaningful telemetry" was received from Phobos-Grunt, adding there was only an acquisition of a radio signal from the orbiting spacecraft.
Um... that's just not good at all.

Mars probes seem to have a higher than average failure rate compared to other interplanetary missions.
The Soviets/Russians alone have probably pooched close to a dozen Mars missions.
