Iran is in such a dreamstate lol, the insurgents in Iraq are not a army. They don't dress like army, they don't fight like army. It's rather hard to fight somebody that looks like a civilian and uses cowardly tactics involving planting IED's and shooting and running away as there main tactics. The Army Iraq use to have, simular to Irans current military was destroyed in a less than a couple weeks by the U.S. military. They stood no chance and neither would Iran.

Wtf are you talking about? You can read can't you? I never said there were insurgents in Iran. I said Iraq. "The insurgents in Iraq are not a army". How does Iraq translate to Iran?

Yep you fooled me. You wrote - "Iran is in such a dreamstate lol, the insurgents in Iraq are not a army." What, have you got ADD? You just jump from one country to another in the middle of a sentence with no indication of how you got there.

I can do it too - "Canada is such a dream state lol, in Holland they wear wooden shoes."

You want a detailed explanation of how I got from one country to another? Try reading the article my post is commenting on. Maybe that will give you a kick in the right direction. Though as it is apparently you are not fond of reading, I will just say it right here.

Iran stated they could take on the U.S. and were not afraid of a attack from them for the simple fact the United States, the greatest military power on the earth couldn't deal with a small "army" of insurgents in Iraq.

Now you take my comment stating, "Iran is in such a dream state lol, Iraq is not a army they are a insurgency". Yes, I wonder how I got from Iran to Iraq in one sentence...

I agree with you, and to add I don't think that Iran would have the # of insurgents willing to fight the US troops after their army's defeat.

$1:
Iran's president offered friendship to the United States but also taunted Washington by saying he does not fear an attack by the U.S. because it could not even defeat a small army in Iraq

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad(aka Shlomo Feldstein) was commenting on the Iraqi insurgents Andy. It's right in the title.

Is it really worth commenting on whether the US could quickly defeat the Iranian army, especially if it didn't worry about civilian casualties?

So then what? Amadinefuck has some good points. No way the US is in a position to hold Iran and do nation building. It's about to turn tail in Astan because it wasn't effective there, same with Iran, which is looking more and more perilous at the US leaves. Iranian soldiers fought bravely against Iraq, they're no pushovers and are willing to die for their country. I'm sure there would be many who would take up insurgency. And Hezbollah would get into the act too. So just blowing up Iran, how will that help the US's goals in the region?

There seem to be a bunch of wargamers on this forum, who just salivate at the thought of the US blowing up some country or other, as if that solves anything.

The US made sure to rebuild Germany and Japan and keep them within a circle of civilized nations so they wouldn't rise from the ashes as threats once more. The US is in no position to do that these days. It's military adventures since Korea have come to a poor outcome - a draw at best.
