This reaction by Iran might explain the large humanitarian effort put forward by the EU in Libya to secure their oil rights.

Britain and France both get a puny amount of oil supplied by Iran, so this is more symbolic on the part of the Iranian govt than anything with real meaning to it. It's the Mediterranean states like Italy and Greece that would get hurt if the Iranians cut them off because they get more of their supply from them. This is a fairly feeble action by a barely-functioning state that in reality is far punier and weaker than they themselves or their enemies want to admit.

The Iranians have been smuggling oil out forever. What they say they're supplying and what they're actually supplying has never been the same number.

Pffft, the EU was already going to halt imports of Iranian oil by July 1st anyway. All Iran did was push the time ahead by about 17 weeks on Britian and France. I'm sure those two are real bummed out right now
