This is a pretty hideous annual event in CHina where thousands of cats and dogs--mostly strays and kidnapped pets--are slaughtered. Graphic content warning at link.

I guess I shouldn't get too judgmental as we like to club baby seals in Canada. Plus it's pretty evident since the advent of web cams that cruelty in Canadian slaughterhouses is common.

Not much different than what we do, except that dogs form strong attachments to humans. They can eat all the cats they want, but leave the dogs alone.

The choice of animals we choose to extract our protein from is of little consequence to me. Their treatment however is. You could argue back and forth all day about which animal is the most intelligent or more noqbel than the next. The truth is, that type of judgement puts one set of attributes above another and is completely subjective. The most important thing to me is their treatment when they are alive, the humanity of their death, and enough respect to understand not to waste the food from creatures which were sacrificed to further our existence.

We "like" to club them, do we? It's a fun passtime, is it?
