What would have been your reaction if they'd said yes?

Not to worry big fella, I'm pretty sure that if the Liberals ever get elected again there'll be a Chinese Consortium who'll be first in line to purchase, no questioned asked.

They didn't say "No". They went with the wishy-washy "Maybe".

BHP Billiton has 30 days to make any additional representations and submit any undertakings.

“At the end of that period, I will make a final decision.

Do you think they should have said yes to the sale and ignore the desires of Saskatchewan?

As long as it doesn't get sold to the People's Republic of China. Worst case scenario.

Selling to a foreign country or a corporation, what's the difference?
Both will suck out the maximum for as minimum a return as possible.

As a massive potash consumer, China may want to depress Potash prices. Further subsidize their already massively subsidized economy.

A private corp on the other hand, like PotashCorp or BHP, would want prices to rise and create more profit.

I prefer the latter.

Yea, because it was the Chinese trying to buy it this time, too.

Do you think politicians should ever stick to their principles? Or should they only do it when they'll lose three seats (like when they pissed of Danny Williams) instead of 13 (like they might stand to lose in Sask)?
