Showed off their apartments in all their gaudy hideousness, with that boorish and tasteless 1980's sense of American interior design that came across like a pimp trying to copy the palace at Versailles. On one of the shows Trump made some asinine and totally creepy comment, with Marla sitting right next to after she'd just had the baby, that Tiffany was going to grow up to have a "great rack" or something equally disgusting.

I remember the show because in the late 80's when I was living with my sort of "foster mom" she watched the show so I might have seen a few episodes, just because it was on. I don't remember any specifics, like names of the people, but do recall being shocked at the opulence that some people enjoyed. Having come from a household/background of "not much" it was kind of jaw-dropping.

That was the 1980's in a nutshell. Obnoxious, noisy, and in-your-face. Pretty much when the ideal of American noblesse oblige began to die and was replaced by "hey losers, look at what I have and what you never will". Not enough just to possess shit like that, it had to be part of a pile-on to make the less fortunate feel like garbage for not being the same. Perfect era for the spawning of someone like Trump.
