Hey... I grew up on the Marvel comics of Stan Lee & Jack Kirby... The Fantastic Four were by far my favorite comic of all time, so much so I still pick up an issue of FF eavery month... But alas I don't have the time to read it anymore...

I was shocked to read that issue #588 will be the last issue of "The World's Greatest Comic" with the death of Johnny Storm.... Looks like when I retire in a few years I'll have some catching up on reading those back issues of the FF....

But we all know death in the world of comics isn't always permanent...

This sort of storyline has always been the comic industry's cheapest ploy to temporarily boost issue sales.

Hardly a surprise, the Torch was the only one of the four who hadn't "died" yet.

This reminds me of when they killed Captain America (Steve Rogers) off. Marvel kept claiming that it was permanent but the fanbase wasn't fooled. We're too cynical for that.

Yeah... a cheap marketing ploy... but they're reporting issue #588 will be the FF's last....

We'll probably see the Fantastic Four #600 after twelve issues of the "new" series.

No one ever "dies" in the comic world. You can take Batman, stab him, poison him, club him, shoot him, burn his corpse, puree the remains in a blender, burn that, dump the ashes in a vat of hydrochloric acid, load the vat of acid on a rocket and fire it into the heart of the sun and someone will figure out a way for him to survive and make a comeback.
