$1:
A Liberal motion calling on the government to roll back the corporate tax rate to 18 per cent has passed by a vote of 149-134, with the support of the NDP and Bloc Quebecois.

The tax rollback, which has been a political lightning rod, does not apply to small business, since they have their own separate, lower rate.

Independent analysts have said only a handle of the country's big companies will be able to take advantage of the government's tax saving in the beginning. That's because many of them are still booking losses from the financial crisis and will be paying no tax in the near future.

Looks like Iggy grew a pair over the break. Very nice.

It shows Harper ignoring the majority of MP's, and doing his own thing again. That means something.

I can think of only two reasons for this. Either Harper has a fair number of corporate friends, or else he's incredibly naive.

It likely brought a smile to Paul Martin's face too.

I'll go for the first one. :)

But anyone who thinks the other side is somehow better,
or has less than a fair number of corporate friends is an idiot.

However, the motion is not binding on the government, which has no intention of adhering to it.

Amen

It's definitely the first one.

One of the articles on his corporate tax cuts noted that oil/gas companies and financial institutions are poised to gain the most from it.
