More than 20,000 small business customers of telecommunications giant Bell Canada were the victims of an illegal hacking incident that left their usernames and passwords publicly exposed on the Internet during the weekend.

Thankfully I don't use Bell. Neither should anyone else if they have an alternative.

Hackers publish the info?
Why bother when you consider all that could happen if you got caught hacking such a site if all you are going to do is put the info out so that everyone affected can change theirs?
At least the Target hackers made some money off of their efforts.

It's not like protecting this data is hard, complex, costly or requires any rare to find skills.
Salt and encrypt.

Twice now I've been with a company that lost my personal data to hackers. Neither time did they actually notify me of their failure so I could do anything about it.
It's one thing to be stupid and not have proper security. It's another to hide it after the fact.
