While the majority population in Grand Rapids is white there is no mention of the suspects' description in any news media past saying he was masked.

In the US that usually means the suspect is black because the media doesn't omit that information when the suspect is white or Hispanic.

Not to say the suspect can't be white. Just looking at the story and the pattern it follows.

I'll say one thing here: If the suspect does turn out to be black we'll never hear about it in the media.
