They saw how a similar clause in NAFTA meant to keep the Mexican government from nationalizing business, and how it's been turned around and used against the Canadian Government by US Business; and decided it's not for them. I say, smart idea.

This story has now been denied by both Germany and Canada.

But yes, can't blame the Germans. It's not us they are worried about, but when they close a trade agreement with the US. What I've never understood is why this only goes one way, why Canadian firms aren't suing the US.

Because if they are likely to win the lawsuit, Harper will immediately surrender and offer billions in compensation.
