free ! Free !! FREE !!! ROTFL

And is it true they are hiring people to go around to install them..... for FREE !!!

Let me guess, you have to be a post secondary student with ties to the NDP to get on that gravy train.

Maybe they're worried that we'll donate them to the Wildrose like people did with their rebate cheques.

Sorry, I don't need any, I've changed all that myself, at my expense.

Same here, but mostly to Compact Fluorescent. I could change 6 of the 7 incandescent I have left to LED, if they were dimmable. The one in the oven though will stay incandescent. ;)

But at least the NDP are putting campaign promises into actions. Something rare in Alberta politics.

Dr. C, check Home Depot, they just had a sale on dimmable LED's. They may still have them on sale, or left overs in the discount bins.

Jezz what's the gripe? BC Hydro did it here.
Showed my bill and got 4 free ones.
Gave the bill to my gf, she went to the booth and got 4
Gave it to my son, went got 4
Gave it to my daughter, got 4 more....

Too bad they don't do shower heads. Had to spend $30 for that.

The Alberta NDP don't think we're grown up enough to go pick up our own bulbs, they're going to waste more tax money and create a bureaucracy, complete with a CAO to run the program. AUPE AUPE

They are going to need transportation, bought with tax money so the G men and women can come to our houses and install them. I could be wrong but I've heard a number like only 10,000 homes are to get these.

The PC's were great at buying votes with our own money, but it was shit that we basically asked for. No one asked for free (tax payer bought) light bulbs and shower heads. Jezzz do they think we sit around with every light in the house on and take 20 minute showers.

Just another useless NDP program to bribe Albertans with their own money, unfortunately it isn't working for them.

FALSE NEWS Alert that wasn't an election promise, it's part of the carbon tax scam, and that was the secret agenda that no one seen coming.

Speaking about false news, it was in their election platform. Seriously man, how do you go through life without accurate information?

$1:
Strong families, strong communities,
healthy environment.
18
Action on the environment:

(5.9) We will establish a green retrofitting
loan program that will assist Alberta
families, farms and small businesses to
reduce their energy usage affordably
, which
will reduce environmental impacts and
create jobs in the construction industry.

(5.10) We will phase out coal-fired
electricity generation to reduce smog and
greenhouse gas emissions and expand
cleaner, greener sources, including
wind and solar and more industrial co-
generation in the oil sands, all of which
will improve both the environment
and the health of Albertans.

(5.11) We will end the PCs’ costly and
ineffective Carbon Capture and Storage
experiment and reinvest the 2015/16
component of this project into construction
of public transit, which will help reduce
families’ transportation costs and reduce
greenhouse gases and other air pollutants.

(5.12) We will strengthen environmental
standards, inspection, monitoring and
enforcement to protect Alberta’s water,
land and air. We will build standards based
on independent science and international
best practices, designed transparently
in careful consultation with Albertans.

(5.13) We will take leadership on the
issue of climate change and make sure
Alberta is part of crafting solutions with
stakeholders, other provinces and the
federal government. First steps will
include an energy efficiency strategy
and a renewable energy strategy

Cloudraker LED ceiling lights at Costco $39
My 1970s place had those ugly boob lights that took 2 100w bulbs to be able to read under them. Marrett 2 wires, twist into place and voila stylish & efficient. Bought 1 extra just in case, but by the time these suckers give out there will be even better stuff around.
The kid who worked for me came by for coffee, told me he was waiting for his new 1200 watt power supply for his gaming computer. I was 'you cook dinner on it while you play?'
Don't know if my whole house uses that much but the charger for this i5 laptop says 39 watts....

The Processors in the servers and desktops I use are 110W. 8O

But my home media PC doesn't even have an internal fan. Less than 10W.
