from a related article: "There have been regular incidents here but it has been years since we've known a night as violent as this with so much damage," Demailly told AFP.
The crowd, composed mostly of young men, also pulled drivers from their cars and stole the vehicles. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to quell the unrest after suffering injuries caused by buckshot, fireworks and other projectiles thrown by rioters. Up to 150 police were involved in fracas."

Just peachy...

The community is fed up of being treated without respect and "like animals," she told BFM, and a silent march was organized as an expression of "anger because we are never listened to."

Well maybe, just maybe, if people cooperated with police...

Nice of CNN to be their usual cowardly selves and go into contortions to not even mention who it was (Muslim North Africans) that was doing the destruction. Typical of them to leave out the most important factor involved here.

Before I even read the article I knew exactly which group it would be. Not even a little shocked. 8)

Yes, when you read about this kind of rioting in France these days you know fairly well what group is involved. The new President has said that his new government will be "more tolerant", meaning willing to surrender even more to the "not culturally Catholic Christian Communities" (How is that for being PC).

Anybody wanting to visit France to see the Frence Culture and French Nation should do it quickly before it disappears entirely.

Given that as well in a couple of years time the most English place may be the Falkland Islands.

The English know they can always escape multi-culturalism by moving there.

Makes me wonder if this socialist puke the French have for a President has the steel to stand up to these vermin and deport them back whence they came. Oh, wait, they VOTED for him so he won't do anything but collaborate with them. Explains why there were no arrests, too.

Policemen struck by buckshot... that's not something that can be ignored.

Only 1067 cars were torched in France on New Year's Eve

SOME 1067 vehicles were torched in France over New Year's Eve, Interior Minister Manuel Valls has announced, a marked drop from last year in what has become a turn-of-the-year tradition in rundown areas.

Every year, the night of December 31 to January 1 sees hundreds of cars set ablaze across the country in an orgy of vandalism - as much a tradition as champagne and oysters in more affluent parts of France.

Briefing reporters late on Wednesday, Valls said the number of cars torched over this New Year's Eve had dropped by more than 10 per cent.

The Seine-Saint-Denis department (the poorest in France) - that neighbours Paris - was the clear winner with a total of 80 burnt cars, he added.

Authorities had stopped publishing official figures of the number of burnt cars after it was discovered a district-by-district breakdown was fuelling a destructive competition between rival gangs.

But last year, Valls had promised to publish the figures again.

Some 53,000 policemen were deployed across the country during New Year's Eve to try and avoid any violence, but three people were knifed and died, including one in Paris.
