'Flames fans' says it all. Try as they might, they'll never be able to 'hold a candle next to Edmonton Oilers fans. The proof is in the #'s!!!

Well personally I think this is stupid, and though through the 90's due to many things, it was not advertised around that you serve, I feel it has gone to far the other way now. We make a very good wage in the service, good enought that when I am home, I buy my own tickets to see the Bruins come into Ottawa, I purchased with my OWN money the top package for this past world Jr's. Again using my OWN money my buddies and I travel to Boston EVERY year to see two games and party all weekend. This "poor" servicemen thing has gone on long enough, the public will start looking at the CF as charity cases which is far from the truth friends. I can remember watching the Military night from Toronto last year at 0400 hrs while I was in KAF. There is Ron talking about the deployed troops and meanwhile 3/4's of the members at the game for free are out of trenton or Borden and have not ever left the country.
I am sure that there are hundreds of occupations in this country worthy of as much recognition who make far less money. Nice to be appreciated, but this call for gratuities grates on me.

You're seeing this in 'the wrong light' Pen. The free hockey games are intended as a 'token' of appreciation for a job well done!

Again Yogi, read through it. Most who attend these games have never left the country, just like your mailman, snowplow driver, local bricklayer or logger.

Aye, it would be better if every 6 months the hockey clubs themselves were willing to donate seats to those coming home from overseas. an average of 2700-3000 every 6 months is 5400-6000 tickets, spread between the 6 hockey clubs, is only 1000 tickets per year per club. That way those that are actually doing the fighting overthere recieve the token of appreciation they deserve, not some airforce clerk behind a desk who hasn't seen a rifle since basic.

Only city that could possibly get it right is Edmonsuck, because the base is right there in city, and that base actually deploys soldiers overseas.

If the Flameouts were on a losing streak there would have been 18 000 tickets donated, but you know how BANDWAGON fans are

A testimony to the good sense of Calgarians. There are many more worthy charities to donate to.
