This guy is going straight to the fascist playbook, no person is safe.

I imagine if he faced a serious threat to his rule, that person of influence would be labelled a drug dealer and will meet his demise at the hands of the police.

Since the OP is your posting, you should have tried reading it.

From your source:
$1:
After his name was read out in August, Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom of Datu Saudi Ampatuan township in southern Maguindanao province turned himself in to police and denied involvement. He told the media he was fighting illegal drugs himself and supported Duterte’s crackdown.

Dimaukom and the nine others were killed at dawn Friday after they opened fire from a van and an SUV on officers manning a checkpoint in Makilala town in North Cotabato province, police Superintendent Bernard Tayong said.

“Our men were forced to retaliate when the heavily armed suspects who were on board two vehicles began firing at them,” said Senior Superintendent Albert Ignatius Ferro, who heads a police anti-illegal drugs force.

Any Mayor in Canada, or the US, opens fire on the local police, I'm gonna bet that the Officers will defend themselves as well.

Attempts to legislate morality never work. Ever.

This is alot worse than legislating, this is cleansing. Bringing the Wrath of God down on anyone you see fit to do so.

Doesn't matter that the mayor agreed with his clampdown or not, these methods aren't acceptable and they will pay an economic and political price.

The vast majority of our laws, which the vast majority of Canadians follow, are nothing more than legislated morality.

Legislated morality has been working, here, far more than it hasn't.

I think you're expanding the definition of morality. Most of our laws don't enforce morality, they enforce safety and efficiency. Deciding to litter or kill or speed or steal aren't issues of morality.

They aren't legislating morality, they are just upping the penalties.

And also bypassing the right of anyone in the crosshairs to be presumed innocent until proven guilty, to defend accusations against them in a court of law, to be sentenced in accordance with the the law and in proportion to the offence, all of their civil and human rights basically. You know, all the things righties hate.
