Typical Harper tactic, don't get what you want then force them back to work or if that fails, pull out. Now watch the feds keep giving BC the same bill to cover police forces in the rest of Canada while expecting BC to cover the costs of their own police as well.

Of course it must be Harpers fault, since we all know how honest and trustworthy the BC Liberal Party is. XD

Why don't you find out what the Feds have to say on the issue before condeming them.

Oh yeah, that wouldn't follow the usual lefty slant of "it's Harper's fault" thats used with or without evidence.

Don't you guys find it rather ironic that you're quite willing to side with what the left calls an extremely "Right Wing" government before all the evidence is in just to bad mouth Harper?

Situation normal for them.

All busy fapping on their keyboards, just waiting for something... ANYTHING

to howl and whine and cry about.

Biggest bunch of pansy-assed crybabies I have ever seen.

They're funny :)

Who do you think would be making up the BCPP anyway? All fresh recruits? Where would the BCPP get their cars, radios and detachments? Where would they get their forms, procedures and what-not? What about cases currently before the courts? Are you going to dismiss the RCMP staff to other provinces and pay through the nose to bring them back to testify at the trials?

It's not that simple a switch...

Is Ontario and Quebec the only provinces with their own police force?

$1:
B.C. has worked hard for four years toward a new agreement, Bond said, and she's not going to give up.

Good Lord, how long does it take to negotiate a renewal of something already in place? Some bureaucrat is riding high off the hog on this one.

BC wants more Input in RCMP operations, since it Pays such a large part of the RCMP's Budget and also after so many incidents where RCMP Officers have gone over the line.

At the very least the RCMP needs serious reform.

When you deal with the Harper feds? Until you finally stop asking for anything.

The cities have been given a free ride long enough. Cities like Richmond need to step it up. I am 100% behind the RCMP on this one.

I can't see the advantage of one huge police force over one large local one. The Toronto police is over 5000 recruits and this would seem to be large enough. The managers can't possibility keep in track with how all the underlinings are behaving.

It's not a left/right issue. It's that the RCMP is a discredited force with lots of problems. Let's have our own force.

It's also not complicated enough that it should deter us from doing it. And sure, we'd be hiring a lot of ex-RCMP. But we could take care to create a different culture than the one that currently exists in the horsemen. Far too many problems, and here's out chance to start out with a fresh sheet.
