Good on them, I don't want to cut and run either. The loss of soldiers are always regretful, however to cut and run because of it is just ridiculous. War is war and there is always casualties. Afghanistan is a struggling country, they don't deserve to be under the talibans extremist rule. We have done more for there country in the years we have been there than the Taliban have in the entire existance in that country.
Isn't that a good basis for fighting a war? To topple a dictatorship and bring peace and stability to a country? Afghanistan is a battleground and bad shit happens there, would that change is we left? No, the ANA will continue or the ANA will disband, go corrupt, etc and Afghanistan will once again be under Taliban dictatorship where they were killed, tortured and forced to live under extreme religious laws. I'd like to see Afghanistan free from the Taliban, where they have a stable government. A army to protect them and police to keep order. While living in Afghanistan might not be ideal, it still would be better off and under these conditions be-able to progress. That is something worth fighting for. That's what people join up for.
However, with all the native side effects that comes with war. For the soldiers atleast that get to fight in it. That come back with PTSD and having family problems, some that come back wounded or come back emotionally scared. My opinion doesn't really matter put up to theres, so what I'd really want is politicans for once ask what the SOLDIERS want. They send them to war, they can send them back. However Canada has a choice here to stay or leave. I think it should be up to the soldiers if they wish to continue or ditch the mission. That's my 5 cents.
